Recently, research institution EVTank, IVE Economics Research Institute and China Battery Industry Research Institute jointly released the "White Paper on the Development of China's Lithium-ion Battery Electrolyte Additives Industry (2026)".
The white paper states that driven by the high growth in downstream lithium battery demand and the increase in the proportion added, the output of lithium battery electrolyte additives in China in 2025 was 159,000 tons (including LiFSI), with a year-on-year growth rate of 50.6%.
As the market demands for terminal products continue to be refined, the proportion of additives in the electrolyte has gradually increased. Currently, the most commonly used additives in the electrolyte are VC, FEC, PS, etc. With the rapid growth of global energy storage installations, the shipment volume of VC will surge significantly in 2025, increasing by 60% year-on-year.
Furthermore, LiFSI is gradually evolving towards the direction of lithium salts. In 2025, the shipment volume of LiFSI in China was 44,700 tons, increasing by 54% year-on-year. With the improvement of the formula of lithium iron phosphate batteries and the application of fast charging, coupled with the narrowing price gap between LiFSI and lithium hexafluorophosphate, its competitive advantage gradually emerged. It is expected that the proportion of its addition will further increase in the future.
From the perspective of the competitive landscape, EVTank analysis shows that currently, the enterprises that have achieved mass production in China include Shandong Genyuan, Jiangsu Shenghua, Fuxiang Pharmaceutical, Yongtai Technology, Han Kang Chemicals, and Suzhou Huayi. In 2025, Jiangsu Shenghua will have the highest market share for additives; Shandong Genyuan experienced equipment failure in its core production line in early November 2025, leading to a complete shutdown for comprehensive maintenance. Product shipments were halted, and it ranked second in the domestic additive market share for the entire year; Han Kang Chemicals ranked third with its market share increasing due to the sales boost from its parent company, Newzonben, for lithium battery electrolytes; Fuxiang Pharmaceutical entered the lithium battery additive industry through a cross-border move. Currently, it has a significant production advantage and has established cooperative relationships with major lithium battery electrolyte customers such as Tianzhi Materials and Newzonben, ranking fourth; Suzhou Huayi ranked fifth in terms of market share.
In the "White Paper on the Development of Lithium-Ion Battery Electrolyte Additives Industry in China (2026)", EVTank also conducted detailed research and analysis on the shipment volume and market size of different types of lithium-ion battery electrolyte additives globally and in China, the prices and competitive landscape of different types of additives, as well as the predicted shipment volume and development trends of different types of additives by 2030.
