I'm from the Electric Vehicle Research Institute. Let me tell you, you can't...

All you need to do is to buy a brand new one. Don't consider doing an exchange for an old one.

Remember: When buying batteries, make sure to get the ones from the new car. Have someone else replace them under your supervision.

If your battery comes with a warranty, you can connect the "+" and "-" terminals with a wire to create a short circuit. This will render the battery completely ineffective and unusable for any false claims. Then, replace it with a new one.

Don't let him use the loose batteries. Always use the ones from the new pack. The loose ones are usually refurbished by the manufacturer. Although they work fine, they are not as good as the brand-new ones. And you are spending the money for the brand-new batteries.

Sure.

If the appearance of the battery is undamaged, does not bulge, and shows no signs of short circuit or open circuit, the following methods can be attempted to repair the battery:

The battery is subjected to polarizing charging using positive and negative pulses, then fully discharged. This process is repeated three times. If there are signs of capacity recovery, it can be repeated several more times to achieve a better repair effect.

2. Water replenishment method: When replenishing water, only deionized water or pure water should be used. Do not use tap water as it may cause excessive battery self-discharge.

First, fully discharge the battery, because after discharging, the density of the acid solution inside the battery is basically below 1.1g/mL.

2. Remove the cover plate and then remove the safety valve. Please keep it well and avoid getting it dirty, as it will be needed again later.

3. Add water. Generally, for a 12AH battery, the amount of water added to each cell is 8 to 10 grams; for a 20AH battery, the amount of water added to each cell is approximately 15 grams.

4. Let it stand for about one hour, then install the safety valve and the cover plate properly.

5. Charge the battery, then fully discharge it after it is fully charged. Repeat this process three times. The capacity will improve.

When lead-acid batteries are not in use for a long time, the following measures should be taken:

Before putting it aside, the battery must be fully charged. Under the condition of being fully charged, it is generally recommended to recharge the battery every 2 to 3 months. If possible, it is best to recharge it once every 1 to 2 months.

2. When the electric vehicle is not in use, it should be stored in a well-ventilated and cool indoor area. After the battery pack is fully charged, disconnect the load line. Since the lead-acid battery has its own self-discharge property, sulfation may occur. If the battery is not recharged for a long time, it will be difficult to restore its capacity, which may affect its lifespan. Therefore, it is generally recommended to recharge the battery every 2 to 3 months to ensure its lifespan.

First, it is necessary to identify the causes of the damage. For those that are sulfurized, use a machine for treatment; for those with broken grids, open the shell and repair them. A simple method is to add liquid for charging.

(Methods and Steps)

Use a thin sheet to remove the soft plastic film covering the top of the single battery, revealing the sealed valve inside.

② The circular sealing valve is located at the exact center of the upper surface of the battery box. Usually, there is a small valve cap, and inside there is a sealing mechanism. The sealing mechanisms of different manufacturers are not exactly the same. Remove the valve cap and carefully take out the sealing material inside. At this time, you should pay attention to the sealing material and its sequence, and do not make any mistakes or break the sealing material. Then, put it in a clean and dust-free plastic bag and seal it for storage.

③ After fully opening all the sealing valves, you can observe the internal situation and estimate the degree of electrolyte drying.

④ Use a glass tube to draw an appropriate amount of distilled water that has already been mixed with additives, and then inject it into the battery through the sealed opening. Pay attention to making the water injection volume consistent for each battery to measure the degree of dryness. For those with severe dryness, more water should be added.

⑤ During the water injection process, the individual batteries should be placed horizontally, that is, turned upside down so that the sealing opening is in a horizontal position. The purpose of doing this is to ensure that each cell receives the same amount of water. As the injection volume increases, the sealing opening should gradually rise. When a certain level is reached, the battery should be stood upright to check if the water level exceeds the electrode plates. Once it has exceeded the top of the electrode plates by 5mm, the water injection should stop. Let it stand for a few minutes and observe the water level. If it remains stable, the water injection should cease. Otherwise, continue to add water until it exceeds 5mm above the top of the electrode plates. Do not inject an excessive amount to avoid hindering the air circulation inside the casing. Finally, record the amount of water injected.

⑥ Seal the opening temporarily to prevent impurities from entering. Let it stand for 1 hour to allow it to penetrate the plates and separators and fully blend with the original electrolyte. If the water level drops again, it should be replenished to 5mm high. Then proceed with charging. Compared with normal charging, it is best to overcharge slightly to strive for the maximum desulfurization and reduction of the sulfided plates, and for the sulfuric acid to be fully dissolved in the unsaturated electrolyte. Stop charging when the terminal voltage is reached.

⑦ Use a battery tester or a homemade dashboard to monitor the discharge process, measure the battery capacity and voltage. You can also conduct the discharge using simple methods and record the results for comparison.

⑧ Conduct two cycles of charging and discharging repeatedly, and carefully record the data. Compare the charging time, the rate of voltage change, and the capacity recovery situation to see if it has approached normal levels or has shown an improvement.

⑨ Water control: Once the effect is clearly observed, perform the final charging and let it stand for 1 hour. Then, invert the battery onto a plastic container of appropriate size that can hold water, and drain off the excess water.

After comparing the individual battery cells, it was found that they were basically similar. Thus, the water injection process was completed.

(2) Important Notes

During the service life of a lead-acid battery, the sealed valve should not be opened at will. The original sealed valve has a fixed opening pressure and closing pressure. If it is tampered with, the valve will not open or close within the specified pressure range. It cannot be opened when it should be, or it fails to close when it should. In this case, its intended function is lost. If the pressure is reached but the valve does not open, the battery casing may be damaged or burst. If the valve is opened frequently without reaching the opening pressure, the electrolyte will evaporate more rapidly, and external impurities are also likely to enter. Both of these can damage the battery.

② Users without professional knowledge should not casually open the sealed valve to prevent the leakage of acid liquid or acid mist, which might damage the eyes or skin. Some electrolytes contain certain highly effective and long-lasting additives. When the sealed valve is opened, some volatile components will evaporate within a short period of time, thereby changing the composition ratio of the electrolyte and reducing its efficiency.

We'll tailor the battery solution to perfectly match your custom design, ensuring optimal performance.
